Born in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture on January 5, 1982. Yogu has congenital genetic disorders (funnel chest, Mongolian spots on the whole body, and visual and auditory hallucination disorders) and grew up suffering daily brutal physical, sexual, and mental abuse by her parents from her childhood. In April 1994, she went on to a private missionary junior high school in Aichi Prefecture at her father's discretion. Around this time, she became conscious of her mental limitations and went to a psychiatric hospital on her own accord. She was diagnosed to have “schizophrenia” and started receiving outpatient treatment.
As she entered a private missionary senior high school, she became interested in ball-jointed dolls and began making dolls in a self-taught manner. After graduating from the senior high school in March 2000, she dedicated herself to doll making in her room while working at a part-time job. Yogu became a member of a school hosted by the doll maker Kagura and started presenting her work in group exhibitions, etc. In 2001, at the request of the manga author Eiji Otsuka, she made a doll for CD visuals for “The Temperature Of Lolita”. At the end of 2002, her work and long interview were published in the first issue of the quarterly magazine “S” and drew a positive public response. As a result, she started the serial “Ningyo Kuyo (Doll Memorial Service)” in the second issue of “S” the next year in 2003. In April of the same year, Yogu held her first exhibition at Mukashi Ningyo Aoyama / K1-Doll in Kyoto.
Even as an adult, the abuse against her continued more fiercely rather than abated. She felt life-threatening danger and left her parents’ home in the summer of the same year to live in Tokyo. After escaping from her parents, she has been repeatedly hospitalized and released due to a cycle of various disorders, in addition to the long-term fight against severe psychosis (currently undergoing outpatient treatment).
In the summer of 2010, Yogu started the serial “Karashimi to Yasashimi” in Vol. 43 of “TH”. In the summer of 2017, she published her first collection of her work and held a solo exhibition at Vanilla Gallery.
